Version: The application Plasma Workspace (plasma) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV). (using KDE 4.2.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Unspecified This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash. Then the computer booted to open. I clicked on starting the browser from the previous window and went to the Kmenu to open an application. When I clicked on the Kmenu Icon, the computer shut down to complete off. I turned on the computer and no screen would appear. I left the computer on for perhaps 5 minutes to be sure that things were not happening in the background. I attempted several times again to boot without success. I then shut off the power at the power supply, turned the power back on, and booted again. This time I got a request to open the BIOS and reset defaults. I did that and got the boot menu and chose the (memory fails the proper term, but it was something like) repair option. I was returned to the same window and tried the dpkg feature which failed, so I clicked on resume for the normal boot. The computer is open again, and I immediately got 'A Fatal Error Occurred' message. The application Plasma Workspace (plasma) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV). I was unable to get a valid backtrace, so I copied the information at the beginning of this statement from the window showing data. As you can tell, I am pretty inexperienced, however this is all the information I can think of. Oh! My components are AMD 9600 Quad Core 64 bit. 8gb SDRAM. 9600 nVidia Gforce with 512mb DDR3. BFG 800W Power Supply. 500gb SATA HDD. ASUS M3N-HT Mempipe Motherboard 780a nVidia chipset. Jaunty Beta OS with KDE 4.2.2.
This was fixed on KDE4.2.2. I don't know what the version in the beggining is "4.2.2", but the code on the backtrace shows "kde4libs-4.2.1a". Please update your package to KDE4.2.2 Thanks *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 185741 ***
