Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) Compiler: gcc 4.3.2 OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages For some time there has been something starting PulseAudio server on my system, successfully killing my audio output. As it was quite annoying, I did `while :; do sleep 1; ps uax --forest >> psaux-log; done' while loading the system, and I found out it was kdeinit starting it. I found no option to disable this annoying behaviour. I removed the execution bit of /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio to workaround this bug. I'm happily using PulseAudio on this machine with a remote PulseAudio server, but I see no reason that there should be a local one running, ruining my local audio.
Still happens with KDE 4.3.4 in Gentoo. I have PulseAudio configured to not auto-spawn, and KDE spawns it anyway. Very, very annoying as spawning Pulse will prevent ALSA's dmix device from working (which I have set to use by default), and if KDE can't use that device on startup, it will never attempt to use it again even after Pulse is killed and it's freed.
Please check in Autoload in Settings menu. Is it be there or not?
