Description Franklin Weng 2009-04-14 02:56:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

When keying some certain terms in some KDE applications, the display text was strange. When I type "Openoffice 測試文字" in lokalize, it will become strange as attached file. But if I type "Openoffice test text" (the same meaning, but all English), it was OK.

I saw at least two KDE applications have this problem. One is lokalize, another is kmess. In kmess some of my contact's nickname has the same problem. But when viewing with kopete it was OK. I think it might be KDE-wide problem, but not lokalize or kmess.

Strange display for certain terms.

When keying Openoffice and followed by some Chinese characters, the display would become strange.

My environment:

Mandriva Linux 2009.0
KDE 4.2.2 (from Mandriva packages, but this problem seems to start from KDE 4.2.1)
locale zh_TW.UTF-8

what do you mean 'strange'? can you mark display glitch with pen (using kolourpaint)?

I attached 2 png files, marking the display glitch with colourpaint.

- Is this still happening with an updated KDE(4.3/4.4) and Qt(4.5.3/4.6) ? Thanks
Comment 8 Christoph Feck 2009-12-09 07:13:21 UTC
If the problem is still visible with a recent KDE/Qt, please provide an updated screen shot.
Comment 9 Franklin Weng 2009-12-09 07:21:51 UTC
So far I didn't see this anymore in KDE 4.3.2 and qt 4.5.

Thanks.
