I would say this is a graphics driver problem, here I have no problems (also using and developing under archlinux).

I never seen this problem on my computers

Can you run digiKam from a console and look debug/error messages ?

nvidia 180.44-1
xorg-server 1.5.3-5
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce Go 7900 GS (rev a1)
I'm using:
kipi-plugins-svn 872192-1
libkipi-svn 856311-3
maybe this is related to this?

I confirm this behaviour on my machine aswell. When I move the mouse, the thumbs blink. It seems as if they are all recreated when I move the mouse or switch to the next picture. It also happens in album view. This makes digikam unusable.

It began to happen to me when I started using large pics (10Mpixels) in digikam.

I'm using an ATI Radeon card with the radeon driver :
ATI Technologies Inc RV515 [Radeon X1300]

digikam 2:0.10.0-1ubuntu3
kipi-plugins 0.2.0-1ubuntu3
libkipi6 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2
Comment 7 caulier.gilles 2009-05-26 12:27:40 UTC
Raphaël, i cannot reproduce it on my computers (ATI cards based, pro-drivers).

KDE 4.2.2, Qt 4.5.0

Andy, Marcel, Mathias ?

No, I can't confirm (KDE 4.2.4, Qt 4.5.2) and it might have been already fixed. We had this flickering once for a short time, but I guess it was due to the porting to modelview (which has not been done in digiKam 0.10).

I'll close this one, because it can't be verified nowadays.
