Currently, all Ark bug reports are automatically assigned to Henrique Pinto, the former Ark maintainer who has left the KDE scene. The current maintainer, Harald Hvaal, tracks bug reports by watching Henrique's mail in his bugzilla preferences. I've recently started contributing to Ark and would like to receive all bug reports as well. Neither Harald nor the people #kde-bugs were able to tell me if there's a "cleaner" way to do that than just watching Harald who in his turn watches Henrique.
to whom are supposed to change the default assignee to? It's not clear from reading the report. Does ark have a mailing list?
Sorry if the report wasn't clear enough. The new default assignee should be Harald Hvaal, the current maintainer. However, I would like to receive all changes related to Ark too -- would I need to be a default assignee too (if that's possible) or should I just watch Harald's e-mail? As for the mailing list, I don't think there's any.
you would need to watch Harald. Bugzilla only allows one default assignee. If there is a mailing list for ark, and Harald is ok with it, we can set it up so that bugzilla emails go to the list.
There is no mailing list for Ark, even though it would be good to have one -- I guess the team has always been small enough (1 person?) so that nobody has actually created a mailing list. Since Harald already follows Henrique (the current default assignee), I guess he's OK with it. It would be better to ask him directly anyway. I'll try to add him to the CC list of this bug report; if I don't have permissions for this, please do so.
The default assignee for new bugs is Harald already. I won't change existing bugs w/o the ok from him and specific instructions on what should be changed.
I'm OK with changing the assigner to a mailing list. actually been wondering for a while how people usually this. I'm totally blank when it comes to actually making/administrating a mailing list though, I only know how to post to them.
And, once we're on the subject of administering bko, if we do change to a mailing list it would be nice to have an admin run some update query and set all ark bugs assigned to that mailing list. Like mentioned above, there is currently a bit of cruft with some reports assigned to the former maintainer, and me being mailfollowing henrique, and then most of the new ones being assigned to me.
Hi, you can setup a default cc in bugzilla, that means that as soon as a bug is reporterd you are on the cc list. Which is much better than tracking someone. Would this be a solution, a mailinglist might be a bit overkill for 2 people IMHO.
So, what should we do about this?
Oh, I didn't notice that last one. Yeah, I guess there are really only two people who need this right now so default CC should do. Could you do two operations then, first assigning all ark bugrequests set to henrique pinto, over to me? Next, cc-subscribe raphael to all these ark requests, and set him as the default cc. This should let us both stop having to follow another person for bug reports.
Changes made: - Raphael is now added to the default cc list for all ark bug reports - Any report that was assigned to henrique pinto for ark has now been reassigned to Harald. - If Raphael was not already on the cc list for a bug assigned to harald, he has been added to the cc list.
