Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs I have Kopete 0.70.2 with KDE 4.2.2 "release 111" running on openSuSE 11.1. When i close Kopete (right click on tray icon and click on Quit) it starts using a large amount of memory (100% of one of my cores) and consumes a lot of memory. The actual kopete process does not get killed until 15 seconds later during that time the CPU utilization remains extremely high with large memory consumption. I noticed that doing a "top" during that time shows that the CPU is spending a huge amount of time in waiting "%wa". How to reproduce: -Start kopete -Right click on tray icon and click on "Quit" Thanks,
I think this may have to do with particular protocols you are logged into cleaning up before terminating. Which protocols are you using?
I am using 1 Yahoo, 2 Hotmail, 1 AIM, and 1 Google Talk. I've been using these protocols with Kopete for a while but i haven't encountered this particular problem until recently, and it happens consistently.
I am having a similar issue. Setting the status to "Offline" or quitting, it starts to use ~15% (process keeps being there) as well as dbus-daemon. When I kill kopete dbus-daemon begins to use the "complete" ~30% cpu.
Are you using the Lancelot menu ? If you are, then this is a duplicate of bug 196809. Thanks
At least for me it was the Lancelot problem. Does not happen anymore.
Seems to be a lancelot problem, not a kopete problem. Closing.
