when loading downloaded updates a box came up and said to report the details of this bug.details as per short description.it said to report this bug.

Sorry but I don't understand what is wrong.
You updated your system and then digikam crashed?

I don't think this is digikam's fault, but anyway you forgot to actually paste the report in here, so we can not tell what was going wrong.

The next time digikam crashes you need to copy the text from within this box (the crash handler) into the bugreport.
