Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs The printer type and the available features are not properly parsed from the CUPS settings. Instead, there is always a full list of supported features: color & black and white, duplex, etc. The expected behavior should be: only the supported features of a printer are displayed, and the settings from CUPS should be taken over. Example: * an HP LaserJet 4050 with duplex unit should appear only as black and white printer, and the double sided printing should default to the administrative CUPS settings, in this case long-edge duplex. * an HP Color LaserJet CP3505 with duplex unit should have both color and bw option, with the default being color, plus long-edge duplex. Additionally, the printer settings made by the user are not stored permanently: i.e. setting the duplex and color mode settings correctly is not preserved, so that that must be redone for every print job.
I am using kde 4.4.4 and this problem still exists
The printer dialog is provided by Qt, if it doesn't work you should open a bug in their bug tracker. http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/
