Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages When chatting with a contact in jabber, the contact suddenly went offline and the last notifications I received , just before the contact went offline syated there in the notification. Ignore or view buttons not working.
Created attachment 32695 [details] attaching screen shot. This just wont go away.
After this happens view or ignore buttons won't work in subsequent chats with other contacts, though the notification goes away when I view the chat window.
I have the same problem, however it happens with MSN and with current conversations. And not each time. Leaving kopete is of no avail. However, it is solved by restarting Plasma. By the way I am on Debian Unstable and use the Nouveau drivers.
For my part, seems to have disappeared after cleaning the mess caused by the upgrade.
(In reply to comment #4) > For my part, seems to have disappeared after cleaning the mess caused by the > upgrade. What do you mean by cleaning the mess? In my case it happened only when the other user went offline. Under normal conditions it works fine.
The kwin package was still the kde 3 package.
Could this be related to bug 183473 ? Do you notice the buddy contact name changes? Thanks
I do not know. I am not noticing this anymore. May be thats because I am using pidgin more these days because kopete does not reliably tell me if there is no connection for example on switching to vpn, it detects change in connection only very later and in this time in do not get any ims and kopete shows to me as online.
I think this is plasma/knotify related. I can reproduce the problem in kopete. Steps: chat with someone. Ask him to leave the chat and get back in a few seconds. Send him a message while it is offline. go to another window so the chat window looses focus. If the user enters the chat again. You get a "freezed" new notification for its message The problem appears randomly also on ark extraction.
It happened again on kde 4.3 rc3. My friend ping me when logging in process was still going on. The first ping stayed in notification area. And is not going away if I click View/Ignore.
@Jithin: did your contact changed the nick ? Thanks
No he did not change his nick. But I haven't noticed this later.
This was also "fixed" in Plasma side: bug 179709 . now you can close the notifications with a close button (to workaround this kind of bugs)
- Can anyone check this on KDE4.3 ? Thanks
I havent noticed this in kde 4.3. btw I dont use kopete anymore, moved to pidgin as its not working properly with yahoo.
Ok, closing as WORKSFORME
I am seeing this issue again. The first message I got stayed there attaching the screen shot.
Created attachment 36754 [details] kopete screen shot First thing I got after using kopete since a long time.
I just got this bug after 3 days of usage. The contact was not offline. Kopete Version 0.70.90 Using KDE 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) Debian Squeeze So now I'm waiting for the workaround to come into my repository... but a fix would be nicer ;)
Notifications have been reworked for KDE 4.4, so this is no longer an issue.
