Version: 1.13(using KDE 3.5.10 release 21.11 opensuse) (using KDE 4.2.2) Compiler: Opensuse 11.1 network installation over Internet OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs I am trying to rip and encode with Lame. The cd is detected and CDDB lookup completed correctly. If I then select all tracks and start rip I get the error message:- Unknown error. If you have a cd in the drive try running cdparanoia -vsQ as yourself (not root). Do you see a track list? If not, make sure you have permission to access the CD device. If you are using SCSI emulation (possible if you have an IDE CD writer) then make sure you check that you have read and write permissions on the generic SCSI device, which is probably /dev/sg0, /dev/sg1, etc.. If it still does not work, try typing audiocd:/?device=/dev/sg0 (or similar) to tell kio_audiocd which device your CD-ROM is. I can see the track list OK and I have tried setting /dev/sg4 in audiocd_IO slave sg4 is the correct generic device on my machine but nothing prevents the error message. With all tracks selected it never works but if I select just one track it will rip and encode without difficulty on some occasions, but not always.
I have had similar problems on another machine but with two drives and kaudiocreator could not properly discriminate between the drives so I have reported this bug as the simplest to explain. I am not sure which version of cdparanoia is built into kaudiocreator but the latest version (10.2) supports SG_IO and should not need the scsi emulation generic device to be set.
