Description Mark A. Taff 2009-04-05 23:19:32 UTC
Version: 1.11.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I use kmail/kontact's disconnected imap. The imap server for my domain is run by Google. Anyway, this morning I was trying to get kmail to stop automatically sending email as html (when the heck did that start, anyway?) so I could post to the opensuse mailing list.

In the process, the font-color for all of my dimap folders turned from a nice, high-contrast black to a light blue. I couldn't find any solution to this via Google or in #suse, #kde, or #kontact, so I presume it is an unknown bug.

Anyway, the light color strains my eyes, so hopefully this is an easy fix. Thanks!

This also happens with normal IMAP. It happened to 3/4 of my IMAP accounts after an upgrade from 4.3.5 to 4.4.1.

This usually happens when a mailbox is near max quota, but that is not the case now.

This is still an issue for me. I'm also using DIMAP from google, and I'm on Kubuntu 10.04 64bit, Kmail 1.13.2, KDE 4.4.2. All of my DIMAP folders are blue.

Hi All,

This has just happen to me 5mins ago. I was switching on GPG integration, but I don't think that was part of it. As an added bit of weirdness the blue (#4A4AFF) turns to a red (#D24D4D) when I select custom colours from the appearance settings.

Apologies forgot to add:

KMail Version 1.13.5 (KDE 4.4.5)
Kubuntu 10.04 64bit

I'm also having this issue with KMail 1.13.5.

It seems like there's a problem with the "folder close to quota" feature. I set custom colors from appearance settings and all my blue folders changed color according to "Folder Name and Size When Close to Quota".

The account I have with blue folders is currently using 12Mb of 256Mb quota.

IMAP server software is Dovecot and I'm using TLS connection, if that makes any difference.

Suddenly, the color of my dIMAP folders also turned blue. That happened at the same time as losing part of my settings in kmailrc – a problem that I can't and don't want to reproduce. Strangely, I am at 77% of the quota (KMail reports that), and under Appearance→Colors, the default color settings are active, which say:
* some kind of red for "close to quota"
* "close to quota threshold" = 0% (BTW, is that a reasonable default value?)
Comment 12 Mathieu Giorgino 2010-11-24 18:58:48 UTC
After a crash of kmail, I lost a part of my settings. This had caused my dIMAP folders being blue, as the "close to quota threshold" setting in Apparence/Colors had been reset to 0%.
- ticking "Use Custom colors",
- setting the quota threshold to 90%,
- and unticking "Use custom colors"
solved the problem. However, all the customized colors (which were the default ones) are now black.

It seems that the quota threshold does not depends on the "Use custom colors" checkbox, and so shouldn't be hidden when the checkbox is ticked.

Same as comment #11, but on Fedora 14, KDE 4.5.5, KMail 1.13.6.
Comment 14 Florian Fainelli 2011-06-29 21:11:31 UTC
Same as comment #12, the quota threshold should not depend on the "Use custom colors" setting. Might also be useful to popup a warning, or use the bottom bar which shows various messages such as "Folder xyz compacted" to display the quota info.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
