What were you doing when the application crashed? Were you installing some package or updating your system packages? Thanks

I believe I have the exact same bug (all info listed below upon crash). I was updating my packages after a clean installation of KUbuntu 8.10 (from iso file, no changes or compilation), and while the update was in progress the kded crashed and reported the error. HTH. KDE version is 4.1.4

@lebiathan@gmail.com: you are probably hitting bug 165548. We don't know if the original report is bug 165548 too. Thanks

@EljoPc: your crash seems to be different. If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace in a NEW REPORT? Also, don't forgive to add your KDE version and the steps to reproduce. (it seems to be related to the networkManager)
Thanks :)

@Kuznetsov Vyacheslav: your crash seems more related to bug 191837. If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read
http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
and post a complete backtrace in a NEW REPORT?
You need to install the "kdebase4-runtime-debuginfo" and "phonon-debuginfo" packages.
Thanks

@David: your crash is more likely bug 173696. Thanks
Comment 12 A. Spehr 2009-05-23 02:23:29 UTC
David Brooks: if you aren't sure, open a new bug, we can mark it as a duplicate easily. We can't separate bug reports at *all* though. And currently this one is closed.

For filing, "kde - general" is fine in this case. (Although see Dario's note.)

Everybody:
Putting anything else on here will make triagers cry.
Comment 13 David Brooks 2009-05-23 15:14:22 UTC
Guys,

I'm really sorry for the incorrect backtrace post, I didn't know the protocol. The bug filing system pushes you through and encourages you to search for existing bugs, so that's what I did. I found one with a matching description (Segfault 11 on KDEd) and posted to that. I had no idea that you couldn't separate the bugs out.

The other bug seems to be a kontact bug. It's extremely unlikely that this is the same bug I experienced as I do not run any of the kontact apps, and the backtrace said it was KDEd.

I'll open a new bug report, as advised. My apologies and thanks for not feeding me to the wolves ;)

Cheers,
D
