Version: (using KDE 4.2.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Unspecified Other Kdelibs: 4.2.1 Kernel: 2.6.29 Distribution: Archlinux Reproducable: Always (battery and AC) When closing the laptop lid of my Dell XPS M1330, the laptop does not enter suspend mode like specified in system settings. This worked in 4.1 (no data thereafter because of a general suspend/resume bug with kernel 2.6.28).
Have you tried If "solid-powermanagement suspend to_ram" works? Have you tried if this works: "dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Hal /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement.Suspend int32:0" Have you tried if either of these commands work as root? If this is the case, it might be a permission problem reported in Post #5 here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217819
