Version:           4.2.1 (using KDE 4.2.1)
Compiler:          gcc-4.4 
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Fedora RPMs

On my system, konqueror doesn't remember the "Show tooltips" setting in:
Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> File Management -> Views -> Show tooltips.

It works, but when I restart konqueror no tooltips are shown again and the checkbox is unchecked again.
Saving the View Profile also didn't make any difference.

Thanks for the bug report! This problem will be fixed in KDE 4.2.2: All file management-related settings will be stored when using Konqueror in this version (to be released this week).

As a workaround (before upgrading to 4.2.2), you can change the setting in Dolphin, it will also be used in Konqueror then.
