Version:           1.11.1 (using 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27-14-generic

Sometimes when kmail loads (it loads on startup and gets in tray icon), all columns get shown and "Tag List" gets large hidding all others.

Although when you right-click and press "Show Default Columns" everything goes file.
