Description Itay 2009-03-28 12:37:45 UTC
Version:           0.9.4 (using KDE 3.5.9)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Debian stable Packages

1.
The EXIF photograph information, as well as the makernote information, are lost after transforming a photo. (Tested on rotating, resizing, and solarizing.)

2.
In parallel, after starting digikam, my terminal gets cluttered with warning such as this

<output>
Warning: Size 5291 of Exif.Nikon3.0x0091 exceeds 4096 bytes limit. Not decoded.
</output>

This reminds debian bug report #475489.

3.
Images come from Nikon D300, and were saved as the largest tiff possible by the camera settings. Image size ~40Mb

Please let me know what other information is needed.

Thanks,
Itay

The image information in EXIF (Date and Time, Manufacturer, Model) seem to survive the transformation.

I am trying to install 0.9.5 from source.

Configure bailed:
<output>
checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
</output>

I am trying to figure out where are those includes.
This is debian stable (lenny)

Yep, it is in beta5. Steps to reproduce: open png, rotate, save.
Comment 9 caulier.gilles 2009-11-10 08:39:01 UTC
Not reproducible here. Which Exiv2 library you use ?

Comment 10 Olleg Samoylov 2009-11-10 09:10:26 UTC
Ubuntu 9.10 libexiv2 0.18.2
What is strange. I creates png with aid of Batch Raw Converter. And I can see exif info in tab "Properties" and in tab "Metadata". But after editing (or after creating png with aid of Editor) exif exist in tab "Properties" but absent in tab "Metadata".

This problem is not reproducible using last digiKam 5.0.0 + Exiv2 0.25.
I close this file now. Don't hesitate to re-open if necessary.
