Version: (using KDE 4.2.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Unspecified Linux Dolphin is almost unusable with FTP's which have limit to only one connection. I can only browse FTP, but cannot do anything else - connection made by Dolphin isnt dropped when it is unnecessary, so any other application (KGet, Kate) cannot do anything on FTP.
I want to add, that this problem doesn't exists when browsing FTP by Konqueror
I want to confirm this bug. It renders Dolphin completely unusable for ftp purposes for me! (BTW, is there anything Dolphin does better than Konqueror justifying the switch?) Kind regards, Felix
Apologies: I'm sorry for the last line, it's a bit offensive. Sorry!!! (This issue really got me mad a couple of minutes before I wrote the comment.) In my case the server reports 3 max connections. So copying files to the server sometimes works, somtimes it doesn't (is there an extra connection to get preview images?), and when it doesn't it is not enough to wait until the files have been moved. I need to close Dolphin then and start all over. BTW, the line "Möchten Sie es erneut versuchen?" cannot be read, only the topmost pixels of the letters will be displayed.
About the "angry" comment: note that you can select konqueror as your default filemanager, if you're nostalgic ;-) About the bug: one should try if closing the places widget, or the preview widget helps. This is the only difference (that I can think of) between dolphin and konqueror, given that the directory view itself is the same (konqueror uses dolphinpart). In any case, this is bug 64647 (which is being worked on).
Indeed, when the number of connections an FTP server allows is less than the current (fixed) limit [there is a limit now!] this is a duplicate of 64647. Marking as such. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 64647 ***
