Description meyerm 2009-03-19 16:18:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I had problems with kdevelop and the file dialog. Please see #187497 for the conversation.

When having an active file on a remote server (sftp) openend in kdevelop and choosing to open a new file, the file dialog should show the contents of the remote folder. This fails.

It shows the remote adress in the adress line (*) but the contents of the "file area" are the files in my home directory. I can click on the "breadcrumbs" on the top until I reach a directory named as a directory on my local computer (f.ex. "/" or "/home") and then the file area shows the contents of this newly reached local directory.

(*) While the path is correct, there is no protocol or server name in the adress line.

This all works within kate, but the kdevelop developers say that they are using a different file dialog than kate and that it is most likely a kdelibs problem. Sooo, here I am :-)

Is this the same problem as bug 185463?

Seems related! Even though I didn't encounter problems when saving. Perhaps my version was already patched (4.2.1)? But please remember: I only encountered this problem with kdevelop and not with kate.

Unfortunately I can't test for the next week since the computer with KDE 4 is not at hand (on my "important" one I still use KDE 3 only). But perhaps you (Jonathan) could have a look and try it in KDevelop? That would be great. Otherwise I'll try to remember this and have a closer look in April.

Sorry Marcel, I'm away from my KDE4 computer too and can't test it. My test case there was for saving, but the code path for loading seems to be exactly the same so the problem may well occur there too.

Works for me with KDE Frameworks 5.45.
