Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages It should be possible to choose which protocol to use to configure desktop sharing. The differences between them are huge, and it does matter which one do you use.
I'd also like freenx support in krfb, since it greatly improves the quality from the desktop sharing upon internet, and security two... Vnc is very fine for LAN, but for helping people on WAN, it is not enough...

Does it have to configured? Theoretically it should be possible to enable all protocols. (I failed to find a description of krbf's internals. It might be necessary for krbf to do inetd-like stub for the other server so the server does not have to be always running if no client is going to use him.)
Sharing desktop would be a great way to help friends get into free software, but vnc is totally unfit for this purpose because it only works ok inside a LAN and even then! FreeNX is definately the way to go, since the protocol is secure, efficient and low bandwith - Fast!
this will indeed become a pressing matter when people start using telepathy to share destkop! VNC over IM (thru NATs and low bandwith channels), I just don't see it becoming a great success, which is unfortunate.
