Description Artem S. Tashkinov 2009-03-16 10:07:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

I have some binary applications running which have their icons in systray and if something happens to systray (like a new app/icon starts/appears or I hide/unhide hidden applications) then "non-native" (in my case Zoiper and Wine/Miranda) application icons completely disappear from systray.

My systray

This bug was valid as for KDE 4.2.0 (probably 4.2.1), right now (4.2.2) there's a different problem - systray icons of non-native applications sometimes get broken and have their 'background' 'borrowed' from another random systray application.

On this screenshot you can clearly see that Zoiper icon has KMail icon as its background. Sometimes zoiper icon has a background from KRDC ;)

I've just recalled that Wine->Miranda icon behaved oddly several times recently but I cannot make it happen manually. I will post a screenshot as soon as it happens.

- Any news on this ? AFAIR, the garbage on background of the icon was/is caused by graphic drivers/X errors.

Alas, no news - everything's quite the same.

(NVIDIA 190.xx, the latest stable Xorg, Fedora 11 x86 with all updates).

I'm using skype under KDE SC 4.3.4, and I don't experience this problem. My xorg package is the Debian one, xserver-xorg 1:7.4+4, with an Intel 945GM graphic card.

Do you still have this problem with NVIDIA drivers and the latest software versions?
Comment 7 Artem S. Tashkinov 2010-01-02 16:12:21 UTC
I'm not using KDE4 right now so I cannot give any meaningful feedback. I will reopen this bug report when I start using KDE 4.4 and if this issue reoccurs.
