Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

The toggle effects button is 111 pixels tall in a vertical panel. This is too big.

It appears that this applet will resize itself, preserving aspect ratio, to take up the maximum amount of space that it can. A similar issue is to be had with the clock applet:

A possible solution would be to use a horizontal switch instead of a vertical switch on vertical panels.

The issue is fixed in trunk, though it looks a little bit squished compared to the old style in any form factor (vertical/horizontal panel and desktop).
Perhaps in the future a different graphic should be used entirely? (Maybe a circular red/green button?)

Maybe the icon could be simply tilted 90 degrees?
