Description Jason Murray 2009-03-13 19:13:52 UTC
Version: 4.10.4 (using KDE 4.1.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian stable Packages

Options Set:

Leave a copy of message on Server
Remove messages after 7 days

Server Environment

Mixed mail server environment (does it on 2 different servers/mailboxes)

Setting the above options and collecting from the POP3 mailboxes with KMAIL and my Blackberry. Messaging seems to work fine except that after a random period of time (not 7 days) all of the messages I received prior get dumped to my kmail folders.

I end up with a complete set of duplicate messages in my correct folders since the last dump. It is like the server(s) are not recognizing the *leave message on server for 7 days* tag and dumping them after I reach a certain number of messages.

My blackberry does not experience this dump.

Note:

My blackberry has been programmed to leave a copy of the message on the server as well (it collects it faster than kmail settings). Kmail still gets this message after blackberry, just kmail gets the dump later.

I suspect it has to do with the server tags for leaving a copy on the server. Once its dumped... I never see the messages again. It happens on ALL (3) mailboxes across 2 different servers.

Let me know if you need more information.

Can you reproduce with a recent version of KMail (KDE 4.3.4/KMail 1.12.3)?

If so it would be nice if you could attach a trace of the pop session when kmail first downloads the messages (as supposed) and another trace of the session when kmail redownloads the messages (in error).

Or if you could get the answer to the "UIDL" command for the messages in the two above cases.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
