Version: (using KDE 4.2.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages 1. Make your panel quite tiny. 2. Go to System settings -> Desktop -> Desktop effects -> Screen edges 3. Make some changes 4. press apply -> The panel is resized to a larger height.
also happens on plasma theme changes - and w/o any WM running. panels grow to some default value (like 33px or so) likely not content related, happens on fresh&empty panels as well
KDE: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) Plasma: 0.3 I think, it happens on every complete refresh of the panel. The panel is even resizing on my Thinkpad T61 when I'am plugging the power cable in or out. Every time it is growing a bit more until it stops at some size. (yes 33px could be right). I put the panel on the left edge of the screen and i want it to be about 20px width. But I have to adjust it every minute to reclaim my spare screen space.
in 4.3 we take the existing margins into consideration when changing out the svg.
There are still situations where the panel is resized (kde 4.3 beta 1): 1. Changing the plasma theme resizes the panel 2. Turn on the blur effect, turn off the blur effect -> The panel resizes. 3. Toggling composting/desktop effects on and off resizes the panel (I guess it is the same problem as with 2).
plasma reloads it theme on composite toggling (that's why it happens when doing stuff on kwin changes) and i think #3 says: "that's a feature" (why an entirely empty aya panel needs to be ~32px high is beyond my little brain, though)
Is this related to bug 184905 ?
pretty much sure, i'm marking this one (i think i moved it from kwin to plasma) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 184905 ***
