Description Mark Kretschmann 2009-03-10 17:59:08 UTC
As users tend to make the same mistakes again and again (like backtrace without debug symbols), I'm currently doing a lot of copy-pasting of replies from older reports.

It would be nice if one could add custom reply templates to BKO, which could be triggered easily (say with the click of a button).

Yes, I've long wanted a feature like this. I call it: "Canned Responses"
Comment 2 Matt Rogers 2009-03-26 22:26:08 UTC
Some changes are needed upstream (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485418) before this can be done, particularly, I need code hooks in order to add a tab to the user preferences page to provide a configuration for the canned responses.

I like this idea :-)

One pre-edited "canned" response I would love to see is to invite the bug reporter who is reporting a bug about Konqueror and some webpage to read

Investigating Konqueror Bugs
http://www.konqueror.org/investigatebug/

Often, bug reports on Konqueror
- have poor description, general summary, too long summary
- have vague, abstract data, absence or lack of specifics
- have very often no testcase because creating a testcase is often impossible and here, I’m not even speaking of a reduced or minimal testcase
- too many report/file a new bug and then run, remaining silent to comments or questions or ignoring bugmail, unaware of bugmail
- sometimes, no url provided
- if an url is provided, then you get to see
o- a very long web page (over 50KB),
o- with insane amounts of nested tables,
   o- tag soup,
   o- invalid markup/CSS code,
   o- IE-specific code,
   o- no doctype declaration
o- trigger backward-compatible "quirks" rendering mode in Konqueror
o- hair-rising amount of javascript code,
o- scripts which were copied and pasted (so even the “webmaster” can’t even understand what he stole here and there)

regards, Gérard

Gnome has canned responses in their Bugzilla, so in case someone wants to work on this that'd be a starting point.

> Gnome has canned responses in their Bugzilla

That code is located at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~bgo-maintainers/bugzilla.gnome.org/3.4/view/head:/extensions/stock-answers/template/en/bug/edit-after_comment_textarea.html.tmpl

I'd also really like this. :)
Comment 10 Myriam Schweingruber 2021-11-08 14:20:56 UTC
This is still very much relevant :-)

We have a bunch of these now, provided by https://invent.kde.org/sysadmin/bugzilla-bot. More can always be added of course.
