Description Irucka 2009-03-05 22:18:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

KDE 4.1.2 is not customizable at all as compared to KDE 3.5.9.

Can you make future versions of KDE have the ability to look and feel like KDE 3.5.9, but without the bugs and security issues? This includes everything from the clock to all applications, panels, applets, desktop customizing, etc. within KDE 4.1.2.

The newer version of KDE is a step-back in terms of the freedom to customize your desktop as you so choose to.

Please keep these thoughts in mind as you all continue to develop freely customizable desktops.

Thank-you.

We are aware of the features that still lack to make KDE4 as customizable as KDE3 and many people around the globe are working hard to make that happen. I notice that you still use KDE 4.1.2 while we're currently already at 4.2.1 which already offers a lot more features.

On a sidenote, please do not misuse the bugtracker for such general requests which are not really bugs. We're already having a hard time keeping track of the actual bugs. If you want to discuss the general state of KDE, please use the KDE forum or our mailinglists. If you have specific features which you think are missing (or things you reckon someone missed while porting to KDE4), please file reports for those individual items (after checking they haven't been reported yet of course :).
