Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources The default value for "Visible icons" in the Quicklaunch Settings is 6. If I either add more than 6 icons to the Quicklaunch or decrease the number for "Visible icons" in the settings below the number of currently added icons, all icons disappear. Adjusting the setting for "Visible icons" afterwards brings all icons on screen again. The widget is still added though it's very hard to get the context menu for it, because the width of the Quicklaunch Plasmoid is just a few pixels. I can always reproduce this behavior. I am using KDE 4.2.1, unfortunately I don't know if this misbehavior was newly introduced with 4.2.1.
Hey! It seems I cannot reproduce it. I tried the following: -have 7 icons in my ql-applet (with 7 visible icons configured...) -decresed visible icons to 5 (or any other value...) ->shows the number of visible icons in the applet + the arrow for the dialog correctly! Are you using Qt 4.5 or 4.4? Lukas
If I follow your steps I can reproduce the described behavior. I'm still using Qt 4.4. I'm using 32-bit Arch Linux. I'm also affected by Bug 185585 so maybe there is a connection between those two. Because with KDE 4.2.1 I can't even get 7 icons in one Quicklaunch without wrong icon placement.
I just did some additional testing and found out some more interesting things. All icons disappeared in all situations as in Bug 185585. So If the Quicklaunch-Plasmoid is on the desktop or in a left-side or right-side panel everything is displayed correctly. If I create a new panel (bottom or top) with only one Quicklaunch added to this panel everything is handeled as it is supposed to be, but as soon as I put another Plasmoid to the panel which tries to expand to the biggest available width (eg the Task Manager Plasmoid) I get the described behavior (which also applies to Bug 185585). I hope you are able to reproduce this behavior with the further given information.
May it's even a duplicate? =) Lukas
