Description sivasubraj 2001-01-15 07:34:33 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kcontrol
Version: v.2.0pre (KDE 2)
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Linux 2.2.17-21mdksmp i686 (Mandrake_7_2)

Please include the Energy_saving control panel for the kde login screen.
The Energy is OK for the users
but it's not very clear for the root how to modify the monitor energy
settings for when the monitor displays the Login...

When the computer is in a logged mode
the energy settings work properly
but when it is not logged the monitor never blanks out!

Thanks
Siva

I litterally spent a couple weeks looking for this... (well about 12 hours searching) then finally asked the right person who said

option "DPMS"
display power management signaling...

grrrr

There needs to be a tool tip in the screen saver section that explains how to enable dpms and have the screen blanking option greyed out if the screen doesn't support it.

One must enable DPMS in their XF86Config file.
We need to tell people to do that from the energy control pannel... and from display properties.

I must have been tired when I wrote my last post to this bug.

KDM is unmaintained and not used in KDE Plasma 5.

SDDM is the login manager used in KDE Plasma 5. If you still have this same issue with SDDM, please file an issue on the SDDM bugtracker (after doing a search for existing issues first!): https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/
