Description Jigoita 2009-03-01 16:18:59 UTC
Version: 0.9.2 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi

I am using here ubuntu 8.10 with gnome, and installed parley from repositories. I don't have the whole kde installed, but the required libraries for parley were automatically installed at the same time as parley was installed.

I use parley inside gnome.

I created some sublessons and everything was working fine, but today I created a new sublesson and, when trying to add several white new entries, the application crashed.

The deep level I am currently using is Lesson, sublesson, subsublesson. And when I try to create several white entries in this subsublesson, after the first empty entry is created, when I click again the "add new entry" button, the application crashes.

Another day with my german teacher I found some another several bugs related with verbs cojugation, I don't know if it is because I am using gnome for the application or just because this feature is still experimental. Can you also add a comment about that? Should the feature be stable?

Thanks

The parley file where you may be able to reproduce the issue

You can try to open this file inside parley and try to add several white entries in the "1 Marzo" subsublesson. If it works, then the problem should be somewhere in my local configuration (or maybe the parley version in the ubuntu repositories is still not fixed for that, my version is 0.9.2)

The parley config file, stored in $home/.kde/share/config/parleyrc

This is the config file that I have for my parley software. Maybe you are able to reproduce the issue with this config file

The output trace generated after the program crashes

This is the whole output showed in the crash window to report kde bug.

Hi again, I just wanted to add some test results.

I installed kubuntu in a virtual machine, it worked fine (the issue was not there). This was without backports repository, so the parley version was 0.9.1.

I added the repository "backports", then I got the 0.9.2 version of parley in this kubuntu. This time it didn't work fine (I could reproduce the error).

So finally, I removed the backports repository on my normal Ubuntu with gnome. I reinstalled parley to get the 0.9.1 version and it worked fine. The error is not there.

Then I guess it can be due to still unstable version of parley? anyway, I will stay with the 0.9.1 version and I will not add the backport repository again.

Thanks for the support

Hi Jiguita - did you hit bug #187744 or does the problem also occur while not being in insert mode?
Comment 7 Jigoita 2009-03-23 21:26:42 UTC
Hi Nico, I think I didn't see the issue that you reported, but my issue happened just when I tried to add several white entries. I am using now an older version that doesn't have this issue, and I don't plan to change and test again because my version is giving me good service and I need it very oft to advance in my lessons, sorry.

I will update parley again when there is a new version in the stable ubuntu repositories, but not again with the unstables ones.

Greetings

You don't have the debug packages for parley installed. So your backtrace is basically useless.
The output from qt coincides with the one from bug #187744.

This should be fixed by r943995 . Please test with KDE 4.2.2 or 4.3 and reopen this bug if it still doesn't work.
