Description Marc Benstein 2009-02-24 18:36:52 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

This was originally reported downstream here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/475738

I am running the up-to-date version of openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.1.3.

Mounted removable media such as USB sticks, USB hard disks, and DVDs will
sometimes get unmounted when it is not in use (in other words, no lock files is
on the media).

However, an example when this does not happen is watching video from a file on
the removable drives.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Plug in any removable media (USB stick/hdd) and mount it (using Dolphin/KDE4
Applet).
2.Close any programs that may lock the media. Leaves it for a few minutes.
3.Open dolphin. Now the media icon on the left pane shows that it is unmounted.
Actual Results:
As in step 3.

Expected Results:
The removable media should be left mounted. However, if this is a feature (eg.
to save power), at least increase the inactivity time before automatically
unmount the media to 15 - 30 minutes.

Seeing that:
 a) we've no code supposed to do that in solid;
 b) I've been unable to reproduce that on 4.2;
 c) I'm also running openSUSE 11.1 (but with KDE 4.2 obviously);
 d) it's been already reported downstream;
I'm just closing this one as INVALID, it's very likely that the user who reported the bug downstream has just installed another application which misbehave.

For sure it's been 30 minutes without activity and my usb disk is still reported as mounted both by df and dolphin. ;-)
