Description Adam Kowalik 2009-02-22 14:33:02 UTC
Version: 4.2.0 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

As contacts list is very buggy (IMHO) and it forces user to be automatically exported/imported each time I connect to gadu-gadu server, it would be nice to have little checkbox titled "Disable automatic export/import contacts list for this account" somewhere. This could be very good for situations like one i'm experiencing now, when the list after export and import is totally unusable (filled with massive amount of "0" contacts).

I guess it's b'cause changes in new gadugadu contacts format.

But request is still alid because:
-it's up to me to decide if I want to store my personal data on remote machine controlled by third party.
-everytime gadugadu developers change something in contact format or servers it might screw users contactlist (like it happend recently).

Also I'd suggest to add "delete contacts from sever" option in case of corrupted/incompatibile list on offcial gg servers.

No, as far as i see this bug is really old..
I think this problem is described in #147434

Sypmtoms are the same, so probably you're right. And why Kopete sends my private data to the remote location without my explicit permission in the first place?
Comment 4 Jakub Grandys 2009-09-19 10:07:00 UTC
It's fixed in SVN 1022576 revision and explicit options to import/export/delete contacts list added, also both importing and exporting are now configurable (through account settings). This should be closed as fixed. More info in bug #184696

automatic export is now an option
