Description Andrey Cherepanov 2009-02-19 09:36:09 UTC
Version: 0.8 beta (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), ALT Linux i586)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-std-def-alt7

As you know, kturtle 0.8 beta from KDE 4.2 support only new syntax :)

But many people have a lot of legacy scripts in old kturtle (ftom KDE3) syntax. Do you plan to make convert from old syntax to new one ("Import from KDE3" menu item)?

sorry andrey, but i do not have time to implement such feature properly.
i do not really feel the "many people [that] have a lot of legacy scripts in old kturtle" is enough of a reason. i think there is not that many.

added to that kturtle is not a tool for developing software, it is a tool for learning how to develop software. porting the code over might be a good exercise in this respect.

so i changed the wish to 'wontfix'.

hopefully after releasing a 1.0 we can give some promise on syntax stability (and upgrade path), but for now we're still changing to fast to do so.

again: sorry.

thanks for using kturtle,
_cies.

Can I make patch for this feature by myself and commit it to KDE SVN?
