Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs 1. the bug because it is a regression 2. this is not a kate issue (checked) I launch Kile and 4 .tex files are automatically loaded. The speed of Kile 2.0 (KDE3) is so-so (always a subjective) but the issue is Kile 2.1 (KDE4) is simply dead slow. I can see how tabs are created, it is way slower than the previous version. The same with quitting, it is not just quit, tab after tab is closing, slowly, then application. The CPU (when comparing is of course the same), 2.8Ghz core duo2.
Hi, have you checked that it is not a problem with too much debug outpout? The debug output can make kile pretty slow in some cases.
I noticed the speed problem without installing -debug rpm, later I installed it too, but the speed in both cases is the same (I mean for human eye).
This is actually not so much a problem of Kile but more of kdelibs right down to Qt. When you use Qt 4.5, you will already notice a performance improvement.
Where is the problem in kdelibs/QT exactly? Is there an easy way for us to work the problem around? It is _really_ slow.
Btw. I just noticed the speed is probably related to tabbar part. The doc is already loaded but there are a lot of alignment problems in tabbar -- after loading tab is created, then it is resized according to doc name, then it is resized again, and there are icons added. I can see it when I open doc manually. I don't have qt 4.5 to check it.
