Version:            (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler:          gcc version 4.3.3 (Gentoo 4.3.3 p1.0, pie-10.1.5) Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

I setup the global shortcut "Switch to Previous Desktop" with "Ctrl+Backtab" but it does not work. Athor shortcuts combination work properly but "Ctrl+Backtab" does not work. "Ctrl+Backtab" does not work as shortcut on every action.

Same problem here. I used to switch through my desktops with mata+tab and backwards with meta+shift+tab, but that just doesn't. 

Whats backtab anyway?

I have the same problems with kwin and meta+backtab or ctrl+backtab. I use Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.2.2
