Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages I'm using Plasma's cool screensaver in KDE 4.2 (Kubuntu) and all was working fine until the widgets (and cashew) suddenly no longer appeared when the screensaver kicked in. - I set up a few widgets (notes, web browser, calendar, clock) in the screensaver - Was working fine when screensaver turned on - A few days of computer use, all good - Numerous "suspend to ram" interruptions for putting the laptop to sleep overnight, still all good - no reboot of laptop during this period - All of a sudden I no longer have any widgets or cashew on the screensaver. The screensaver kicks in and, when stopped, the login dialogue appears, but no plasma-overlay :( - The same blank screen after five or six screensavers, no widgets Going to System Settings and trying to reconfigure the widgets on screensaver didn't help - the screen just went totally blank and I had to restart Xorg to get back to desktop. Plasma restart?... Yep, that does the trick as I suspected. I have now reproduced this cycle at least twice.
what is the status of this bug? does this still happen with kde 4.3 or 4.4 (beta 1 or later?) thank you
Apologies for the delay. I've had network issues for the past few weeks. And it's unfortunate I'm caught in Kubuntu's upgrade cycle, which didn't help either. After testing this for past week I'm please to say the expected performance is much improved in 4.3.2. I have been logging in and out of the plasma overlay screensaver for at least 10 days and have not had the screen go blank yet. I will keep an eye on the screensaver behaviour moving on to 4.4.
