Description GvLists 2009-02-14 02:13:48 UTC
Version: 1.9.10 (using KDE 3.5.10)
Compiler: Target : i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I like text mails. I enjoy the convenience of html mail too. I subscribe to a high volume mailing list in a daily digest format. It is with yahoo groups. At the end of each mail in the daily digest i see links to "Reply to author", "Reply to group" etc. The underlying code says

x.y@somemail.com?Subject=Re:The subject line

When i click this link Kmail opens a composer with the correct email address. Brilliant. But the subject line is ignored. May be this is an error. It helps us to reply to emails with correct subject line. I tried to copy the link by right clicking on it and copying it. It read

x.y@somemail.com

The subject part is missed somewhere. It would be wonderful if someone could correct it, if it is an error. Thanks for your efforts.

Confirmed in kmail 1.11.90 (kde 4.2.62).

See rfc 2368

I just looked at the RFC. May be it is a good idea to implement it full. I have seen web pages with email addresses that include the subject and even a bit of the body of the email message like this one. It is from job consultant's website who makes life easier for their applicants.
mailto:someone@someorg.co.uk?subject=Job%20vacancy%20enquiry:%20Job%20Reference%20(9710)&body=Dear%20Someone%20SomeSirName,

This works as expected in trunk r1027229 (Kmail 1.12.90). Closing
