Description Michal Vyskocil 2009-02-13 11:03:24 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I have very bad experiences with a new systray introduced with KDE4.2 and a kmail. After click on Kmail's icon in tray it often do some strange things:
 - sometimes it lost at all (and a Kmail and xorg eats too much of CPU, until I killed kmail)
 - sometimes it change a position, stops responding and is black. The Plasma stops view a backround image, but it run.

The first one black square in a tray is probably kmail and a second one is konversation, because I killed it from console.

Used xorg-7.4, graphics card G72 [GeForce 7300 SE], driver nv, compositing disabled

A situation after plasma restart

The problem still persists in KDE 4.2.2 - kmail's icon behaves strange after click on it. For example sometimes it leaved from systray, but after that it appears on the end of systray.

Problem is still in 4.3.0

Screenshot of the systray showing kmail disappearing for some seconds

As for me, under KDE SC 4.3.4, KMail 1.12.4, the only problem I have is that the icon disappears for 2 seconds when I click on it (see screenshot), but then, it reappears normally.

My xorg package is the Debian one, xserver-xorg 1:7.4+4, with an Intel 945GM graphic card.

Do you still encounter the problem as you described it with the lastest software versions?
