Description Pavol Rusnak 2009-02-12 11:05:33 UTC
Version: 0.2.0 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

WinHex supports templates for editing binary data. It would be great if okteta had something similar.

See http://www.winhex.com/winhex/templates.html and http://www.winhex.com/winhex/templates/index.html

Template has similar structure to file magic file, but creates dialog which makes editing easier.

On my internal wishlist since the beginning, but being a bigger task this might take some time until it gets on top of my TODO list.

I find the structure view tool of the NeoHexEditor even better than WinHex templates.

I startet with such a similiar feature using the boost spirit library but at the moment I am lacking some time to get at least a minimum example to work.
But I will keep on spending some time on it and if someone is interested I am sure I can send some patches.

The Structure tool, soon coming with Okteta 0.4 (KDE SC 4.4), should be similar to what you have been looking for, so closing this wish report, thanks for filing it.

Wow! Thanks very much for implementing this feature!
