Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: I Don't Know Removing or adding my own groups, as well as moving contacts into these new groups, do not appear to be remembered once Kopete is closed. As soon as I open it back up again, the default groups are there (even though I removed them), and the contacts are not in the groups I set. New groups, however, are still there. This is with the MSN protocol, KDE 4.2.0 on Arch/KDEMod 64 bit
Just to clear things up incase description did not make sense: - Adding a new group, it will stay once restarted. - Contacts added to the new group, do not stay in the group once restarted - Deleted groups (such as 'Coworkers', 'Buddies' and 'Friends') come back once restarted.

Behaviour of this bug seems to have changed in 4.2.1, contacts moved to new groups now stay in there (yay), though deleted groups such as those mentioned still come back,
SVN commit 942957 by mfuchs: Fix a typing-error that caused to use a wrong iterator. Now groups can be removed if they have contacts in them that are also elsewhere. CCBUG:184050 M +1 -1 kopetecontactlistview.cpp WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=942957
SVN commit 942958 by mfuchs: Backport of r942957 Fix a typing-error that caused to use a wrong iterator. Now groups can be removed if they have contacts in them that are also elsewhere. CCBUG:184050 M +1 -1 kopetecontactlistview.cpp WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=942958
Do these groups have any contacts in them? And if they have, are these (at least one) contacts also somewhere else? So is at least one of the contacts a copy? If that is the case that last commit should fix it. Btw. "default groups" --> are these default groups of MSN?
I think so, I don't know much about the MSN protocol. They are 'friends', 'coworkers', 'buddies'. They have no contacts in them.
A potential fix should be in KDE 4.2.2. Can you try again after installing that release and let us know if it's fixed?
If you could provide the information requested in the comment #8 and then reopen this bug, we'll take another look at fixing it if it's still a problem
