Version: 4.2.62 (KDE 4.2.62 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090204)) (using 4.2.62 (KDE 4.2.62 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090204)), Gentoo) Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.29-rc4 Only part of the users who might be interested in those nice charts will find ksysguard, but many people migrating from win32 know the task manager, which does have the fancy charts. And btw just tried to press CTRL+ALT+DEL that dialog also should have a button for the system monitor, IMHO.
Yeah something like that would be good, but I'm not sure how exactly. It remains always loaded so that it comes up faster during heavy load. If I added tabs, they would have to be implemented in a way that added nothing to the resources if not currently being viewed. Perhaps a module that dynamically loaded when you click the tabs. Another way to do it would be to have it like in OSX, where you have a small space at the bottom for such graphs. It looks nice, but very cramped imho.
I would also like to have full System Monitor w/ graphs shown, instead of the System Activity window, when pressing Ctrl+Esc
Doesn't this duplicate bug 173668? (I really would like to have at least an indication of free memory and free CPU time in the status bar, like in the old days of KDE3!)
I agree.
Adding free memory etc should be fairly straightforward. Just a case of adding it. Launching the full ksysguard isn't an option. The System Activity needs to be fast and always loaded. However I've been toying with the idea of adding tabs to the System Activity, and dlopening the required libraries when you click on them and unloading them again when you close it. Maybe with some javascript support etc or something.
