Description Christophe Prud'homme 2009-02-10 15:42:10 UTC
Version: 1.11.0 (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.26-1-686-bigmem

In kmail composer window, the us_intl keyboard(dead keys) that allows me to type accent for example '+e gives é or `+a gives à is broken in the composer window after I attach a file to the composer window.

In order to recover the dead keys I save the email in the drafts and then reload it. After I can type again é à ... instead of having ´e or `a

I don't quite see the relation between dead keys and attachments but this is 100% reproducible and unfortunately very annoying when one has to type french ;)

Best regards
C.

Confirmed with kmail 1.11.90 (kde 4.2.63).
NOTE: This only happens to me if the preview is enabled in the file chooser, and I pass over a non-text file.

I can confirm the bug (I write in Spanish). But this bug may be related to kdelibs or Qt itself. I have tried konversation for kde 4 from sources, and the same happens when I open the notifications dialog.

Changing to kdelibs as this also happens with kate when trying to open a file and the preview is enabled over a non text file.
Qt 4.5.0 and kde 4.2.66

As a matter of fact, I have been seeing this bug since KDE 4.0.80, Qt 4.4 (pssibly 4.3.something).
