Description Stephan Sokolow 2009-02-10 06:21:17 UTC
Version: 0.70.0 (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r7-20080501

"A contact sent you a buzz/nudge" isn't the most useful of messages... especially if you have multiple chat tabs/windows open. Kopete should include the contact's name in the Plasma notification popup.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

Is a re-test on a KDE 4.x-era version useful?

I'm still on Kubuntu 14.04 LTS and haven't used Kopete in years, so I'd have to install it just to test.

5.x would be best to be honest.

I doubt I'll have time to risk breakages from upgrading until pretty close to the end of the Kubuntu 14.04 LTS support window in April 2019. (I've had to waste a day or two hacking around breakages every time I've upgraded my desktop, even when doing a clean reinstall rather than an upgrade to minimize the problem, so I hop from LTS to LTS.)

If someone else can test, it shouldn't really be something specific to my system.

1. Do any of the still-active protocols support Buzz/Nudge?

2. If so, have someone send you a Buzz/Nudge while they're configured to produce desktop notifications. Does the resulting desktop notification say who poked you?

I'll set this to Reported for follow-up.

I switched to Pidgin ages ago and I'm not even sure if any of the protocols that I still have accounts on even *support* nudging.

Let it WORKSFORME, I guess. You've had over a decade to fix this or declare it to be as-intended and close it, so a bot's ultimatum isn't going to take my time away from family over the Christmas holidays.

(To be perfectly honest, I take it as a bit of a personal insult whenever I see these sorts of auto-close bots. With every passing year, I better sympathize with how JWZ was feeling when he coined the term "CADT model".)
