Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

Whenever I start the KDE session is shown an error message from the Ark:

same here (suse 11.1, kde4 factory rep.)
It looks like ark doesn't close properly, and then is restored by session management when one starts KDE next time and chrashes. When I opened ark several times in previous session, I get several crashes at start up.

On KDE startup, did you got a blank Ark window, and it crashed when you closed it ? If you did, this is a duplicate of bug 175637
