Description Peter Gückel 2009-02-08 21:44:03 UTC
Version: 0.99.01 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

The list of bug reports claims that this bug is resolved, but it is NOT.

When trying to post to a newsgroup, the program and compose window suddenly vanish and nothing is posted. It is impossible to use the program, except for reading, but not for posting to, newsgroups.
Comment 1 Stephan Binner 2009-02-08 23:01:10 UTC
Are you sure that you have a kdelibs rpm newer than 4.2.0 that includes the fix?
Comment 2 Peter Gückel 2009-02-09 00:23:15 UTC
kdelibs-4.2.0-10.fc11.i386

I don't have a clue if it has "the fix" or not. It is the most recent available.
Comment 3 Stephan Binner 2009-02-09 09:37:29 UTC
Well, have a look at the last changelog entry or at the build date. If it pre-dates the date of the bugfix commit to SVN then it's not included for sure :-)...
Comment 4 Peter Gückel 2009-02-09 19:24:57 UTC
Under Help/About Knode:

Version 0.99.01

That's all she wrote.
Comment 5 vic vosen 2009-02-24 04:21:33 UTC
Crashes whether or not I turn-off spell checker or wordwrapper
Crashes spontaneously, meaning sometimes it will let me post
follow-ups as well as new messages, but mostly just crashes
Pasting the crash report below
Used to work fine, then after an update date with fedora repositories
on Febuary 19th thereabouts started crashing much to the celebration
of trolls on the newgroup I frequent, can get a list of identities of
people that are dancing on my tomb upon request.
I also have kdelibs 4.2.0 installed release 10.fc10 epoch 6

Comment 6 Kevin Kofler 2009-02-24 04:55:45 UTC
Can somebody please point us to the fix so we can apply it? If it's fixed upstream, that doesn't mean it's fixed in Fedora. We have to apply the fix or wait until KDE releases a new release. Given the urgency of this, I think we should apply it, but I need to know what the fix is!

That said, this is no longer a KDE issue at this point, so closing DOWNSTREAM. (But that doesn't mean we don't need feedback for the above!)
Comment 7 Kevin Kofler 2009-02-24 04:58:26 UTC
OK, looks like revision 918169 is the one to snatch, we're on it.
