Description Mirko Stocker 2009-02-06 16:57:06 UTC
Version: 1.11.0 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

The 'Next Unread Message' action doesn't jump to the next unread message, but only to its folder, to the last selected message.

Selecting the last selected message is ok (and I have it configured to do that) when I go to the folder manually, but 'Next Unread Message' should really select the unread message.

This works for me in 1.11.0 (kde 4.2.0) in opensuse using a dimap folder.
My next folder after spam is inbox, and I've made sure the last message in inbox is the oldest one before changing to the spam folder.
Then I've just marked all spam except one as readed, pressed next unreaded message and the last spam appears. wait for it to be marked as read. press next unreaded message, and after answering yes to change to inbox folder, the first unread message is selected.

Mine isn't a dimap resource, not sure if that matters though.

I have a few dozen folders, some with unread messages, and right now I have to hit '+' to enter the next folder with unread messages and then again + to really go the next unread message.

(Well, I think in the meantime I've already adapted and I'm actually used to press + two times when changing folders :-) )

The folders where you experience the problem are nested folders? like

Folder1
+-Folder2
  +-Folder3
Folder4

If tested it with
Folder1
Folder2
Folder3

Hm, I have one account that is completely flat and another one which has nested folders, but the behavior is the same on both.

Is there a simple way to change from online imap to dimap, so I could try that?

Please check in kmail settings|configure kmail|misc|folders, the option "When trying to find unread messages" see if you have "Loop in all folders".
Comment 6 Mirko Stocker 2009-02-14 17:10:22 UTC
Yes, that's enabled.

I've been able to reproduce it now (kmail 1.11.90 kde 4.2.62).

With IMAPs folders, when you press the next unread message,it changes from the current folder to the next one with readed mails (as now I have not visited my spam folder and it is ignored), but in the new folder it goes in the "last selected message", not the "next unread message".

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
