No, I can't reproduce it, it was just a one time crash, I don't know what caused it, when I try to update an event and move to another desktop as before there is no crash. Thank you for the info on debug, I installed some dgb packages including kdepim-dbg.

No, I haven't seen it since. I upgraded to ubuntu Jaunty in the meantime and KDE 4.2, KOrganizer is working much better, no delays while saving new events.
