Description Thilo-Alexander Ginkel 2009-02-04 07:46:19 UTC
Version: kontact 1.4 / kmail 1.11.0 (using KDE 4.2.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When starting up kontact and there are new mails in my IMAP account those mails are duplicated. Any mail that arrives later during the periodic mail check is received only once as it is supposed to be.

The IMAP server being used is Courier-IMAP.

Unfortunately, the filter log viewer gets turned off during a restart, so I cannot verify if filtering is involved. Is there any way to enable this setting persistently?

The symptoms slightly differ from bug # 95064, which is why I am reporting this separately. If you still fell that this is a duplicate, feel free to mark it as such.

Turning off interval mail checking does not work around the problem, so this does *not* seem to be a race condition between initial and interval mail checking.

There was a fix of a nasty IMAP bug in 4.2.3 I think. Do you still experience this duplication in KDE 4.3?

Unfortunately, I am still seeing the mail duplication from time to time, although it happens very infrequently. Typically, one copy stays in the "Inbox" folder whereas the second copy shows up in the mail folder where the mail actually should end up as configured by a filter rule.

Running KMail 1.12.4 on KDE 4.3.5.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
