Description Nicola 2009-01-30 05:27:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Dear all,
after the upgrade to KDE 4.2 with the official Kubuntu packages (deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu intrepid main) I can not see most of the widgets on the desktop.
Clock, calendars, panel and view directory work.. But as soon as I try something else like Dictionary, Eyes, LCD Weather, NOtes, and so on I get the message:

This object can not be created for the following reason: could not find the requested component: XXX...

I have deleted already ~/.kde* and restarted... but the situation remains the same.

Thank you

Nicola

I have open a thread in http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3101315.0 to see if anyone else is experiencing my problem ...

Hi,
as suggested in the thread http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3101315.msg167634#msg167634 now I have fixed my problem with the installation of "kdeplasma-addons"

Why was not installed at the beginning?

Thx

I agree. This should either automatically be installed or the user should be prompted to install it instead of giving an unhelpful error message with no mention of how to fix the problem.
