Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages At present effects such as Desktop Cube can be triggered with a typical key combination, such as Alt-F11. It would be useful to be able to use the mouse buttons in a trigger. I've been using Compiz until now, and it allowed me to set my desktop cube trigger as Ctrl-Alt-Button1: when I hold down those three, I can use the mouse (in my case, a laptop TrackPoint) to rotate the cube without having to move my hands from their usual typing position.
Just a personal note: the Compiz way of activating cube is very bad from an accessibility perspective. You cannot use the cube with only one hand. KWin cube has been designed from the start with this fact in my mind and can be used either with keyboard only or with mouse only (you have to assign a screen edge to trigger the effect of course). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 163121 ***
Just so you know, one-handed is perfectly possible in Compiz - on my laptop I had it set to the key combination Ctrl-Alt-Button1. Holding those down and using the TrackPoint spins the cube. I've achieved a similar arrangement by setting it to Ctrl-Alt-C in kwin.
