Version: 4.2 (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Hello to everybody, When I started a new kde 4.2 installation notifications worked fine. Then I hided kbluetooth and kwallet systemtray icons using this new feature of kde 4.2 and I got...double notifications from everything (example from kopete: contact X is online, contact X is online). I tried to unhide the icons (from the systemtray settings menu) and then....triple notifications! In short: everytime I move an icon from visible to hidden or the opposide I get one more duplicate of notifications. Removing systemtray applet and readding it to the panel fixes the issue untile you hide again something in the system tray... I don't know if this is specific to ubuntu packages (didn't have this problem with 4.2rc1 under opensuse). Can somebody else reproduce this with 4.2.0 final?
This may be realted to bug 181154
I can confirm this behaviour on 4.2.0 final on Kubuntu
Created attachment 30912 [details] Duplocate notification popup Same here on Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2. See the attachment. Plasma restart does not help. Neither does restart / logout + login, I think this bug is therefore different from #181154.
I have the same problem only I've always had multiple notifications. At home I use debian with the experimental 4.2 packages while at work I see it with kubuntu. Ever since starting kde 4.2, every notification has been duplicated.
Could this be a (K)Ubuntu packaging issue ?
I doubt it, comment 4 says it's been observed in Debian.
I can't reproduce in trunk, only with kde 4.2
Having upgraded hardy to intrepid I no longer see this behavior. Perhaps it is *just* a packaging issue.
Hardy never had KDE 4.2 packages.
(In reply to comment #9) > Hardy never had KDE 4.2 packages. Whoops. You're right. I meant to say that I upgraded from intrepid to the not yet released jaunty.
mmm...well, actually I CAN reproduce it with jaunty :(
I think I must have misunderstood comment 4. I see an svn commit that should fix this which our packages don't include. (We backported the config dialog) You can further track this bug at https://launchpad.net/bugs/327183
