Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources hi, is it possible to implement in dolphin a feature that allows to broswe mtp devices (mp3 readers and so on) and use them as simple folders as it was with MSC usb pens? thank you Regards, Marcello Anni
any news?
I concur. Why on Earth is Amarok implementing this on its own rather than via KIO???
very usefull feature: support file broesing via file manager. Gnome can do it. KDE not. I think, It's not good. Desktop DE MUST have feature.
i think this should can be a really great feature, i can't understand why it hasn't been yet implemented. Marcello
Same here, the family has a couple of MTP- players and we are forced to keep Windows on one laptop, only because of the MTP-players.
It seems that Android 3.x devices will mount as MTP rather than UMS - at least Motorola Xoom does so; I suspect this is so that there's no need to unmount sdcard on the device when mounting it on PC. Hope this gets added so that ther's no need to muck around with mtpfs.
For android 4.x the default is to use MTP-only, the recommended path by Google is for both phones and tablets to not have UMS support at all, and instead to rely entirely on MTP. Considering MTP is now a standard and there are good linux libraries supporting it, creating a KIO slave for it seems important.

Now that android 4 arrived, i badly need this and because of that add myself on the CC list
I would like this very much too. I have two Android devices which are MTP only (no UMS support) and to copy files between them and my computers I have to mount the devices manually at the CLI or copy the files wirelessly, which is very slow. It would be nice if it was possible to browse the device's internal memory and sd card and transfer files using Dolphin.
Please install the MTP KIO and reports bugs or issues to the kio/mtp product. For more information, see http://www.afiestas.org/workspaces-gain-mtp-support/
kio-mtp has been available for a while now.
